- Add gandules (put liquid from can in rice too) and water. Mix well. Bring to roaring boil then reduce heat to medium-low heat, cover for about 20-25 min or until soft. Do not stir rice until after the 25 minutes and keep covered. After the 25 mins uncover and mix around, then cover again and let steam for 5-10 more mins. Now rice should be done and fluffy.
